Getting to the Gold Coast

Gold Coast Airport (or Coolangatta Airport) is approx 20kms from Marriott Resort & Spa, Surfers Paradise.  There are flights into the Gold Coast from most Australia capital cities, New Zealand, Asia, USA, Europe.

Brisbane Airport is approx. 1 hour and 10 mins (90kms) from Marriott Resort & Spa, Surfers Paradise Gold Coast. Brisbane is a large international airport with frequent flights daily.

For international and interstate visitors arriving at the Gold Coast’s local airport, Coolangatta, the following options are available.

  • Shuttle Bus:

Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle - Pre-booking is recommended and can be done online at the website below. One way or return coach transfers between your hotel & the Gold Coast Airport are available.

Getting around the Gold Coast


There are taxi services operating 24/7 on the Gold Coast. Taxis on the Gold Coast can be hailed from the kerb on the street or engaged at designated taxi ranks. Gold Coast Cabs can also be booked directly.

Public Transport

  • Buses

Some bus services finish at the G: where you can transfer onto a connecting tram to complete your journey.

There are more than 60 bus routes in the city including turn up and go services, 700, 704, 705, 709, 740, 750 and 777 that operate every 15 minutes or better, seven days a week.

  • Trains

Queensland Rail trains connect major centres on the Gold Coast including Helensvale, Nerang, Robina and Varsity Lakes and also serve Ormeau and Coomera. Trains run at regular intervals to and from Brisbane with bus connections to Surfers Paradise, Southport and Broadbeach. Timetable information is available through TransLink.

  • Trams

The new G: light rail system operates from 5am to midnight on weekdays and throughout weekends. The route links Helensvale, Gold Coast University Hospital, Southport, Main Beach, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach with a 7.5 minute service between 7am and 7pm weekdays.

Surfers Paradise North Station – Closest stop to the Marriott Resort & Spa, Surfers Paradise. The Surfers Paradise North station is located in zone 5.



  • Ferries and Water Taxis

There are a number of private ferries and water taxis operating in the city. We are currently requesting information from ferry service providers about the opportunity to provide an iconic service for our expansive waterway network.
