Emeritus Professor Richard (Dick) Tisher passed away peacefully on the 16th of November, 2021 aged 91 years.
Dick was at the initial meeting at Monash University of what became ASERA, in 1970. He organised the first conference at University of Queensland in 1971 and was the first editor of the journal (called RISE from 1974 onwards). He was editor of RISE 1971-1973, 1983-88 and co-editor 1974, 1989.
Dick was a lecturer/senior lecturer at the University of Queensland for a number of years, before moving to Monash University as a professor of education in 1974. He left Monash in 1990 to become Executive Chairman of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board (VCAA).
