Announcing RISE Topical Collection “Argumentation and the problem of misinformation in science education”, co-edited by Wonyong Park and Sibel Erduran.
This topical collection examines how argumentation and reasoning skills support scientific literacy in classrooms, public debates, and online spaces amid growing concerns about misinformation. Contributors explore how people navigate conflicting claims, the role of digital and traditional interventions, and strategies for fostering evidence-based reasoning. The collection offers insights into the evolving challenges of science education and invites further research on digital tools, sociopolitical contexts, and equity-focused approaches. We welcome diverse methodological perspectives, from experimental studies to ethnographic and conversational analyses.
