Announcing RISE Topical Collection “Multimodal literacies and representations for learning”, co-edited by Helen Georgiou and Russell Tytler.
This topical collection focuses on the vital role of language and multimodal representation in science learning. As with all other topical collections, this one begins with a set of previously published RISE articles, to which new, ongoing contributions are invited until December 2026.
The Topical Collection is focused on the presentation, assessment, teaching and theorising of students’ material and embodied representation, communication or literacies in science. A range of diverse approaches across all educational levels are welcome; from semiotic analyses and visual literacy to teacher professional learning and equity-focused approaches.
We expect this collection will stimulate development of the fast-growing interest in this area within the RISE research community.
